College Media Gurus Garner Exceptional Placement Rate For HIV Awareness PSA: Campus Media Group delivers amfAR 14 percent hit rate for ads targeting fast growing group of HIV victims, college-age women.

ST. PAUL, MN – March 3, 2005

In an annual effort to provide pro-bono services to one non-profit organization, Campus Media Group (CMG) has chosen the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) for 2005. CMG provides placement services for amfAR’s ad that targets young women with the message: “92% of women carry lip protection. 10% of women carry HIV protection.” In response to statistics that show significant growth in HIV infection in young women ages thirteen to twenty-four, amfAR developed the print media campaign. Distribution of the ad to 170 college newspapers in regions with the greatest increase in HIV have so far resulted in 25 placements, with the help of CMG follow-up calls to ad managers. Additional placements are being confirmed weekly.

"We are grateful to Campus Media Group for their invaluable assistance
promoting and presenting our public service announcement," says Deborah
Hernan, amfAR's Vice President, Public Information. "This PSA has a vital
message, and CMG has great expertise in reaching this group of consumers --
a group at high risk for HIV infection. CMG's experience with college
audiences has helped amfAR communicate with an important group."

CMG co-founder and President, Tom Borgerding, points out, “Not every campus publication has space available to run PSA ads. Some campus media are even restricted by policies against such placement. We are very happy with the response so far from editors that understand the importance of keeping readers informed on issues like the spread of HIV.”

Hernan notes the importance of support from CMG in getting the amfAR message out. Teen girls and young women are over-represented among AIDS cases in their age groups. In 2002, teen girls accounted for more than half (51%) of new HIV cases reported among those ages 13-19; young women ages 20-24 accounted for 37% of new HIV cases in their age group. CMG has made a commitment to amfAR for 2005 to help reach young women at risk.
