HIGH SCHOOL NEWSPAPERS NOW PRACTICAL FOR NATIONAL ADVERTISERS
Campus Media Group partnership puts 1500 high school student newspapers at advertiser’s fingertips

ST. PAUL, March 29, 2004, PR Newswire

For the first time, national advertisers can confidently place ads in student-run high school papers with the expectation of receiving appropriate tear sheets and promised reach. In a new relationship that will further deepen its leadership in youth media and marketing, Campus Media Group, Inc. (CMG) will begin a formal partnership with J&S Printing that delivers just that.

J&S brings existing relationships with the faculty advisors for over 1500 high school newspapers that the firm prints on a weekly or monthly basis. As the exclusive advertising sales outlet for these papers, CMG will apply its low-cost, turn-key, media campaign management services to deliver rare access for national advertisers to reach the high school market.

“In reality, highly targeted media has yet to breach the doors of public and private schools effectively. Our ability to have ads placed in publications by the printer, rather than students, means that advertisers can be assured the ads run as scheduled,” says CMG President, Thomas Borgerding. “Not only will marketers be able to place full page, tabloid format ads in individual publications, but we have the ability to offer flat rate options, breakout by region or even free standing inserts.”

J&S Printing has provided cost effective, professional quality printing for school newspapers since 1989. Sharon Ezell, co-founder of J&S Printing says, "Last year we printed over 5,000,000 copies for client schools. With over 15 years of experience printing papers for schools, we know how to produce a quality paper and get it back to schools across the country, even Hawaii, while the news is still the news!" Ezell sees the added value of including national ads in these papers as two fold, “It provides badly needed financial support for these journalism programs, and gives student papers a more professional look and feel, adding to the educational experience.”

Borgerding believes advertisers need to seriously evaluate new avenues for promotion to high school students. “High school age people are now making their first major purchase decisions, particularly on things like mobile phone service and other personal technology. Plus, a growing number are making their first financed auto purchases,” explains Borgerding. “I see this partnership with J&S as part of making the high school market the cornerstone of CMG’s growth in the next few years. This partnership is just a down payment on owning this channel to reach teens more directly than ever before.”
